Aaaah, Spring Break!

What better time to find extra time for ourselves, than during Spring Break for our children.  I'm trying to provide some fun and a degree of freedom for my eleven year old.  I truly hope he's enjoying himself.
While running back and forth to the kitchen, on orders from the three year old, I've been trying to understand some of the music programs I installed years ago, but have rarely had a chance to look at.  If this example loads.  This is me on soprano saxophone.  The pictures are of an adventure with my children from last year.  I was trying to see how the programs worked.
With regards to sculpting.  K provided a great suggestion.  To document my (I hope) progress.  I'll start with the 'Waldkinder'.  That's the name I came up with for the figures in the previous post.  Still work to do there, but I like the looks of the last one I made, with the red scarf.  The leggings/pants are from old silk ties with small patterns.  I thought the cable knit sweater came off fairly well for a first try, but still needs work.  It was from an old 'gold toe' sport sock.  The shirts are handkerchiefs and the hats, leather.  It was, again, haphazard with the costuming.  Lots of tacky glue.  I need to be more defined, actually take measurements.
A piece I started at the same time, is a fairy.  I was going for more definition with regard to anatomy.  My armature was too big in the lower body, and am not pleased with moonies and color difference after curing.  This piece was really old Prosulpt and some Super Sculpey.  I realize now, I didn't make holes for the wings.  So,....my next step is costuming, then hair, then wings.  I'll need the kitchen for wings.  Large flat surface.  I don't currently have a set work area.  I'm thinking that needs to change.  I found over time, I learn best through my mistakes.  Lots of them going on here.  It's taken a long time to be comfortable with mistakes.  I can't wait to see how these pieces look when finished.

The 'Madsculptor' has a great blog.  Worth checking out.  My next trip to the hardware store will be for masking and aluminum tape.

A big 'Thank you' to everyone for the suggestions.  I hope, within the next few months, to 'monetize' this blog.  Fran needs a new pair of shoes.  Lots of applications to learns.  We'll see how it goes.

Take care,
Fran

Getting Started

Well, by the looks of it, there haven't been things of much concern to Fran.  Will try to do better.  But, really, where does the time go?

Have been getting back into sculpting with polymer clay after twenty years, or so.  I'll post some pictures and hope to learn along the way.

These pieces were done with Premo.  A great product for crafts, but not good in this application.  It didn't hold the detail, and was hard to smooth.  After curing the color was uneven.  I decided to paint the exposed parts.  I'm not happy with the result.  This is my first try with Genesis paints, costuming and hair.  I was trying to capture the laughter of small children.  I have a way to go.

I've found some really great information here in the cyber-world.  I'll try to provide links, when possible, if only for me.
